Sarah Greenham Taylor is a singer, songwriter, performer and music teacher living in Skibbereen in the beautiful West Cork. Classically trained in piano, she studied music in University College Cork and then went on to complete a Masters in Community Music from the University of Limerick.
Since graduating she has directed church music groups and facilitated music workshops around the country as well as teaching piano and performing.
In 2004 she met her future husband, Max Taylor and together they formed Alchemy, combining their different styles and influences to incorporate Jazz, Rock, Classical, Blues and Traditional with guitar, bass, piano, keyboards and vocals.
Sarah has flirted with songwriting since the age of 17 but it’s in only the past five years that it has really come into its own. Raised on a diet of Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Janis Ian, Paul Brady, Dire Straits to name but a few, Sarah has soaked it all in to create a musical style that is very personal and uniquely her own.
It has been said by many that her style is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell while her voice has been compared with such artists as Joan Baez, Stevie Nicks and Sandy Denny.
See them perform at 10pm on Saturday night in The Irish Whip
