The Darktown Strutters all share a particular penchant for 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s jazz. It’s the unique idiom of that jazz era that really inspires a musical conversation between themselves and their audience. Their songs convey the real emotional meaning of uptempo “good time” swing to slow “heart break” ballads. The Darktown Strutters are a quartet that enjoy sharing the taste and sound of a jazz tradition that was truly by the people, for the people. With Brendan O’Ruaidh (jazz guitar), Gary Baus (alto saxophone), Pat Barrett (double bass), Martin Leahy (drums).
